Netflix fans were hooked on the Squid Game series when it first came out two years ago. This November, a reality TV spin-off series was released and subscribers are going crazy for all things Squid Game once more, including Dalgona cookies being stocked in Costco.
The hit Netflix comes with deadly consequences for the losers of any challenges. Thankfully, the show’s reality TV spin-off only involves fake blood, but the players do have to take part in some tough challenges. One episode sees the contestants take part in the iconic Dalgona cookie challenge.

What are Dalgona cookies?
Dalgona cookies have been around for years, but they were made more famous by Squid Game in 2021.
The Netflix show’s reality TV spin-off, Squid Game: The Challenge, features the cookies again.
The candies are part of a challenge that involves cutting a certain outlined shape out of the treat without it cracking.
Dalgona is a type of Korean honeycomb toffee made with sugar and baking powder.
How to make Squid Game cookies
If you’d rather make the Squid Game cookies, rather than buy them from Costco, look no further.
To begin making the Korean sugar candy, you’ll need the following ingredients: Sugar and baking powder.
- Melt granulated sugar over a low heat.
- Taking the mixture off the heat, add a small amount of baking soda and mix.
- Pour out into a circular shape on a lined baking tray.
- Press the whole cookie when it has set slightly, then press with a cookie-cutter shape of your choice such as a heart or umbrella.
