If you’re a sci-fi freak, then you definitely have to know Nancy Allen, the actress who starred in ‘Strange Invaders’ (1983) as Betty Walker, in Allison in the adventure film The most impressive “The Philadelphia Experiment” (1984) and in the “RoboCop” trilogy as Officer Anne Lewis.. The roles of Nancy in the films ‘Dressed to Kill’ (1980) and ‘Last Assassins’ (1996) also show the incredible content of the blonde actress.

Although her earlier interest in the entertainment industry started with dancing, she later discovered she wasn’t cut out for it. Clearly, channeling her talent into acting was a step in the right direction for the American actress.

Biography of Nancy Allen

In the Bronx, New York, on June 24, 1950, the actress was born as the last of three children. Her parents Eugene and Florence Allen named her Nancy Anne Allen at birth. She attended Mount St. Ursula Academy in the Bronx before her family moved to Yonkers. When she was four years old, her mother enrolled her in dance lessons, which got her interested in a career in dancing.

Allen then attended the High School of Performing Arts for a year, but lost interest in dance when training became all about grades and left for Jose Quintano’s School for Young Professionals.

Career – Movies and TV Series

From the age of 15, Nancy appeared in dozens of television commercials. She made her film debut in ‘The Last Detail’ (1973) playing a minor role as a nervous date with Jack Nicholson. This role sparked her interest in acting, and she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career.

Three years later, she got the role of the evil and popular bad girl Christine Hargensen in the horror film ‘Carrie’ (1976). In 1978 Nancy starred as Pam Mitchell in Steven Spielberg’s production ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’ and in 1979 she played Donna Stratton in the comedy ‘1941’. In 1980 she starred as Kristina in ‘Home Movies’ with Kirk Douglas and Liz Blake – a call girl turned amateur sleuth in the thriller ‘Dressed to Kill’. For her performance in “Dressed to Kill,” she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.

Next, she starred in the neo-noir film “Blow Out” (1981) as Sally Bedina, a woman involved in an assassination audibly captured by a sound engineer. In 1983, Nancy Allen appeared as supermarket tabloid reporter Betty Walker in the movie “Strange Invaders”. ‘all in 1984 was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Actress that same year.

In 1987 she starred in the movie “Sweet Revenge” as Jillian Gray. That same year, Nancy starred as a police officer named Anne Lewis in the sci-fi classic RoboCop, a role she dreamed of as a child. She was again nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Actress. In 1988, Nancy was featured in the horror film ‘Poltergeist III’ as Patricia Wilson-Gardner. She repeated her role as Officer Lewis in “RoboCop 2” in 1990 and had to learn martial arts and participate in police training in order to participate more in the physical action of the film. In the same year, she starred in the TV movie ‘Memories of Murder’.

In 1993, she played the brave cop, Officer Lewis again in ‘RoboCop 3’ and was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the same year, she played Cathy Thomas in the TV movie “Acting on Impulse” and the following year she appeared in the TV movie “The Man Who Wouldn’t Die” and in the movie “The Patriots”. In 1997, Nancy starred as Maggie Hewitt in the movie “Against the Law” and Anna Bishop in “Dusting Cliff 7” (better known as “Last Assassins”).

Other movies she has featured in includes; “The Pass” (1998) in Shirley Duprey, “Out of Sight” (1998) in Midge, “Secret of the Andes” (1999) in Brenda Willings, “Kiss Toledo Goodbye” (1999) in Madge, “Children of the Corn 666: Rachel Colby’s Isaac’s Return’ (1999), Louise’s ‘Circuit’ (2001), ‘My Apocalypse’ (aka ‘Quality Time’, 2008) and narrator in the 2012 film ‘Bound by Flesh’.

Nancy has also appeared on numerous television shows including; “Another World”, “Fairy Tale Theatre”, “Touched by an Angel”, “The Outer Limits”, “The Commission”, “Judge Amy”, “The Division” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”. ‘victim assistance’. Nancy retired in 2008.

After her retirement, the actress decided to focus more on breast cancer awareness and anti-cancer activism following the death of her friend and former co-star, Wendie Jo Sperber, in 2005.

In December 2010, Nancy was appointed Executive Director of the cancer support center weSPARK (an organization founded by her friend Wendie before her death).

Nancy Allen’s ex-spouses

Nancy Allen has been married and divorced three times. She married director Brian De Palma on January 12, 1979, and they divorced in 1984. She began dating Michael Paré after “The Philadelphia Experiment” was produced that same year.

On September 6, 1992, she married comedian Craig Shoemaker but the marriage did not last as they divorced in 1994 and in June 1998 she married builder/contractor Randy Bailey and divorced in 2007.

From her three marriages, Nancy has no children and she currently has no known relationship.
