Meet Chance, the rappers family

He definitely took the world by surprise with his music dominance, especially because he doesn’t charge a penny for his amazing music. Nonetheless, today is all about his support system… his family, so let’s learn a bit more about Chance the Rapper’s parents and brother.

Chance The Rapper’s Parents

Considering the usual stereotypes dominating these days, we assure you that the current description of Chance, the rapper’s parents, is very different from the notion you might have imagined in your head. The rapper was born in the home of Ken and Lisa Bennett and the couple coincidentally work for the government.

Chance’s father, Ken, was an aide to former Chicago Mayor Harold Washington, worked for then-Senator Barack Obama. He is now Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Rahm Emanuel. For his part, his mother, Lisa Bennett, works in the office of the Attorney General of Illinois and also owns tobacco fields in North Carolina.

It is not uncommon for parents to hope that their children grow up to be like them, hopefully even decide to follow the same career line they have chosen. That’s why parents of Chance rappers shouldn’t hope that one day he, too, will hold political office. Nonetheless, they are his biggest fans and totally support his efforts.

The couple knows that ultimately, Chance’s future is very bright, but they still have some concerns. Here is what his mother had to say: “Three friends of Chance and Taylor who had nothing to do with gangs, who were doing the right thing, were killed and know that this is a crisis.

Here is one of the instances she was probably referring to; In 2011, Rodney Taylor, close friend of Chance, was stabbed to death after he mistakenly hit the wrong guy. These kinds of problems would keep any parent up at night.

All in all, he made his parents very proud, especially for the position he decided to take. His father said: “He could sing about a lot of other things, but he talks about some of the challenges that young people face today, it’s not just going to school, going home and do their homework.”

Chance the rapper’s brother

His name is Taylor Bennett and while he’s not following in his parents’ footsteps either, he’s definitely inspired by his older brother. He was born on January 19, 1996, roughly three years after his brother was born, and it was obvious that the two were very close from the start.

The duo showed an interest in the arts very early on, they often ended up bonding and developing their skills and talent. Like his brother, he has a unique sound and delivery style, influenced by several renowned rap artists.

A few of them are Twista, Nas, Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, we would like to add Chance the Rapper to this list as the star has also helped his little brother in every way possible. The two even have a song together, after his success he and his brother released a track called Wide Shoulders, which is also the title track from one of his latest mix tapes.

The mix tape also features other impressive new artists of Chicagoan descent such as Logan Parks, Talia Stewart and Jordan Bratton. On January 18, 2017, the day before his 21st birthday, the rapper came out as bisexual on Twitter.

It was a big step in his life, but did it to “Help others struggling with the same issues”. He tweeted: “My birthday is tomorrow and I’m going into next year. I’d like to be more open about myself to help people struggling with the same issues.”

On top of that, “Growing up I always felt indifferent to my sexuality & being attracted to 2 genders & today I would like to openly come to my fans. I recognize myself as a bisexual man and I always openly support the gay community and will continue to do so in 2017. #Thank you, you. “

Chance the rapper’s daughter

He’s as tight-lipped about his daughter as ClarkKent is about his true identity…but even more so. In September 2015, the rapper took to Instagram to post a photo of his parent bracelet from the hospital. The caption was quite long, but in summary, he was overall very grateful for everything and he asked fans for some privacy to settle into his new role as dad.

His little angel is named Kensli and he’s done it with his on-and-off girlfriend since 2013, Kirsten Corley. In May 2016, after they stopped living together, Corley filed a petition asking the courts to declare Chance the Rapper the father of their daughter. as reported by the Chicago Tribune

She asked to remain the sole caretaker while enChance would “pay child support retroactive to the birth of the daughter, expenses incurred during the pregnancy, childbirth and attorney fees.” In January 2017, however, she withdrew the appeal, as they were to have settled it out of court.

In shorter news, the rapper finally posted some photos of his adorable 15-month-old daughter on Instagram last month, everyone is happy to finally get a glimpse of the beauty that obviously stole his heart.
